Professional Development Opportunity for Composers

Eight ‘up-and-coming’ composers (Robin Haigh, Sarah Lewis, Ben Lunn, Alex Mills, Helen Papaioannou, Lisa Robertson, Laura Shipsey, Peter Wilson) have been selected  to work with the Ligeti Quartet towards a new 6-minute piece for string quartet over two workshops (first workshop Friday 27th April 2018, second workshop on 9th November 2018, held at The University of Sheffield).  The workshop, generously funded by Arts Council England, is also open to observers, including A-Level students and their teachers.

Observers invited for Reading/Recording sessions 9th November

The finished works will be rehearsed and recorded on 9th November 2018 in Firth Hall, University of Sheffield. Attendance by observers may be to the Morning Session 9.30-12.30 or the Afternoon Session 1.30-4.30 (composers who applied for the workshop or who are attending the conference may request to attend both sessions). Refreshments will be provided and observers will have the opportunity to mix with the artists.
